Why Indiana Leadership Academy?
-
Small Classroom Setting
It is important to us that each student gets the attention and direction they need to succeed. Larger classrooms tend to be more management oriented than customized personal learning. We want to change that. With a small classroom and skilled teachers we can tailor the pace of learning towards each student effectively while building strong and lasting relationships.
-
Christ-Centered Worldview
Jesus is the foundation of ILA. We recognize one day we will stand before God and not before man. This end motivates our present to equip every student excellently unto love and good works. Every subject, activity, goal, habit, and discipline is done with the Kingdom heartbeat at its core. We love to see our students come alive in Jesus!
-
Teaching Style & Curriculum
ILA takes great joy in the way we train students. A mix of classical and Charlotte Mason curricula; our students get to enter into experiential hands-on learning. Focusing on how to learn, habits, beautiful handwriting, and good, noble, and excellent stories.
-
Core Competencies
Three main areas of focus we have for our students are the growth of Leadership, Character, and Perseverance. For leadership, we help develop both the competency and confidence of each skill. Leadership of a skill is realized when it is being passed on to others. A learn it and train it mentality. For character, it starts with humility and coachability with the mindset of “I will do my best and be my best unto the Lord.” For perseverance, we help students engage and endure when things get challenging. A mindset most needed in today’s world of “I will do this. I will not give up!”
-
Flexibility
ILA is truly built around the family units. Through our research it was made abundantly clear that shorter, focused classroom times are better than than the longer school hours that tend to be more like daycare than learning. At ILA, we are a hybrid school. You can do school at home, on the road, or in the classroom. We want to be your guides as your disciple and train your own children. This is one way of many we can stick to our mission and serve you.
-
Safety
ILA is hosted generously and graciously at Bluff Creek Church. Their church staff is phenomenal and have helped us at ILA champion our vision. They have also helped us in keeping ILA very safe with their built-in safety features that we take very seriously. The doors of the school are locked throughout the day. There are cameras in each classroom and hallway. Each parent and anyone who would volunteer at the school has to go through Ministry Safe training, there is an alarm in the building, and accountability measures are put in place by teachers and staff. We are also protected by the National Center for Life and Liberty, insurances, and the HSLDA.
-
Skill Assessments
Instead of using standard grading, we believe in assessing skills based on mastery and not test-taking. We are able to assess skills effectively through a tool called the Leadership Checklist based on MAWL principles (Model, Assist, Watch, and Leave). This assessment process allows teacher and parent to be on the same page for each skill being learned and where a student may be falling behind or racing ahead. This process becomes simple and understandable after going through the tutor connection meetings a couple times.

Like-Minded Community
Indiana Leadership Academy is a family of families that share a like-minded worldview, mission, and vision for their families tomorrow. We understand this stage of life is busy for young families, but along the way want to foster environments for friendship and growth with one another. The growing list of planned optional community activities included: weekly prayer, donuts with dads, play dates at playgrounds, field trips, quarterly bbq’s, men’s/women’s bible studies, volunteering for extra-curriculars, and more!
